Golfing enthusiast and npower employee, Jason Scagell has raised £7,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support, which has been matched pound for pound by the energy company to raise a grand total of over £15,000.

Jason Scagell, head of npower Business and former Captain of Ladbrook Park Golf Club in Solihull, supported a variety of innovative fundraising activities at the club including an Irish night, a ‘beat the pro’ competition, a Captain’s away day and plenty of auctions and raffles.

Each of Ladbrook Park Golf Club’s captains is tasked with choosing a charity to fundraise for throughout the year. Jason’s choice was inspired by npower’s 12 year partnership with Macmillan.

The money raised is enough to fund 74 fuel grants*, which Macmillan and npower offer to people living with cancer who are struggling to heat their homes.

Jason said: “Fundraising for Macmillan has been great fun and hugely rewarding. It was a huge team effort and I’d like to pass on my thanks to Ladbrook Park, my colleagues at npower and my family and friends. Macmillan does amazing work to support those whose lives are touched by cancer and I am so happy to have been able to support them.”

Melanie Failes, Senior Partnerships Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Jason, npower and the Ladbrook Park Golf Club on behalf of everyone at Macmillan. £15,000 is an incredible achievement and will make a massive difference to the lives of people living with cancer across the UK. Your support has meant we are one step closer to helping to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.”
