Chaired by Jonathan Smith, Chief Executive of the Golf Environment Organisation (GEO), the panel will take to the conference stage on Friday afternoon for an hour-long focus on ‘The Next Step’ in sustainability, followed by an open discussion with the floor. A term that has relevance to each and every aspect of contemporary business, the drive towards sustainable lifestyles and livelihoods is set to define the 21st century.
Golf is not operating in isolation from this trend. The potential for securing long-term economic, social and environmental stability is well within the industry’s grasp. Tools and methodologies to unlock product longevity and maximize profit are now available for golf businesses everywhere. Are your golf operations set to be surfing the crest of this wave or languishing in the doldrums? The real life application of sustainable golf development and management will be explored early in the session.
Jeremy Slessor of European Golf Design will focus on the importance of integrating social and environmental issues into the project conceptualization stage. Jim McKenzie, Superintendent of Celtic Manor Resort – host venue for The 2010 Ryder Cup, will demonstrate how to harness the natural and cultural capital of your golf product to deliver a higher quality customer experience.
Throughout the session speakers will be spotlighting the tools that are available to achieve these outcomes, and enable every golf owner and operator to pursue sustained and organic growth to their business.
The remaining panelists are The Toro Company’s Andy Brown, who will talk about the five steps to water efficiency, and Benjamin Warren, Communications Director of GEO who will focus on the marketing opportunities that can be unlocked by making sure that your product exceeds the green expectations of your existing and future customer base.
