The Nordea Masters will return to Stockholm’s Bro Hof Slott Golf Course in 2016 after a two year stint at the PGA Sweden National in Malmӧ.
Bro Hof previously hosted the event from 2010 until 2013, enjoying great support from fans from the Swedish capital, and Claes Nilsson, Head of Golf at promoters Lagardère Unlimited Scandinavia, is delighted to bring the tournament back to the scene of some of its greatest moments.
“We should be happy that there are so many fantastic golf courses in Sweden and proud that there is so much interest in hosting the Nordea Masters,” he said.
“PGA National and Bro Hof are two of the best facilities in Scandinavia. We have played two years at PGA Sweden National and it feels good to come back to Stockholm and Bro Hof.
“Our ambition in the future is to let the competition rotate among the best courses in Sweden.”
Among the golfers looking forward to next year’s return to Stockholm is the defending champion, Sweden’s very own Alex Noren, who has also previously triumphed at Bro Hof.
“It is fantastic news that the Nordea Masters is returning to Bro Hof Slott,” he said. “Although I may be biased, having won there in 2011, I do believe it is one of the best golf courses in Sweden and perhaps even in Europe.
“The links style of the layout and the stunning surroundings make it one of the most popular venues on the schedule whenever the Nordea Masters is held there, and it certainly makes us Swedes feel very much at home.
“Of course, I also won by seven shots there four years ago, so I will be confident going back and it would be incredibly special to win a third Nordea Masters at a place which is so close to my heart.”
Noren’s thoughts were echoed by his compatriot Henrik Stenson, twice a runner-up in the Nordea Masters who will bid for his maiden home victory in Sweden’s capital next year.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Stockholm, a beautiful city,” he said. “Bro Hof Slott has proved to be a great venue in the past, and I’m sure it will be again.”
