This year’s 7th edition of the Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship (OWKG) is shaping up to be one of the most hotly contested tournaments on the European Junior Amateur calendar, with over 100 competitors from 12 nationalities already registered to compete.

With the R&A sanctioned event set to take place from 20th to 24th July at Oceânico’s acclaimed Amendoeira Golf Resort, budding young golfers and their families are being encouraged to sign-up quickly at as there are only a few places remaining.

Played over three rounds at one of Continental Europe’s finest golf resorts, the 2015 event will provide youngsters between the ages of seven and eighteen the opportunity to compete within their relevant age and gender categories in professional-like conditions. Youngsters aged 10-and-over will compete over 18 holes on each of the three tournament days, while the nine-and-under contest will be fought out over three nine-hole rounds.

With a history of attracting entries from all around the world this year is no exception, with competitors travelling from as far afield as Peru to compete over the Oceânico Faldo and O’Connor championship courses, whilst at the same time combining the experience with the opportunity of a memorable family holiday in luxurious surroundings.

With a strong family-theme, parents are actively encouraged to get involved in the event, with invites to the opening and closing ceremonies, and entry into the pre-tournament Par-3 Parent/Child contest at the floodlit Amendoeira Golf Resort Academy Course.

Amendoeira’s outstanding accommodation and facilities also lend themselves to the perfect family getaway, with preferential rates offered to all OWKG participants. The resort offers spacious two-bedroom apartments for families of four; two-bedroom apartments with mezzanines; and luxury villas for larger groups. All apartments boast modern amenities and appliances, and are surrounded by landscaped gardens and swimming pools.

In addition to the two 18-hole golf courses, visitors can take advantage of the state-of-the-art practice facilities at the Amendoeira Golf Academy & Fitting Suite, including a driving range, putting green and the nine-hole, par-3, floodlit course, Oceânico Academy.

Backed by the Portuguese Golf Federation as well as the R&A, the OWKG plays a significant role in developing grass roots golf by providing a high standard of competition for the next generation for golfing enthusiasts with under 16 & 18 categories earning points for the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Entry fees range from €110 – €240 depending on the age the child.
