Gadget Show presenter Ortis Deley teed up his first taste of golf with the help of The PGA Training Academy’s Tim Bamber at The Belfry.

The TV star took to the fairways of the Ryder Cup venue as part of an episode aired last night (6th April) showcasing golf gadgets and gizmos.

Novice golfer Deley was pitched against talented England golfer Georgia Hall in a series of challenges.

But the Channel Five presenter proved up to the task with a little help from some exciting new gadgets such as a radio frequency activated ball finder and putting app plus some more conventional coaching from Bamber who is the PGA Training Academy’s coaching executive.

And Bamber, a qualified PGA Professional, had plenty of praise for the first time golfer.

“It was great to meet Ortis and the team and the really positive thing about the filming was that it showed golf is fun,” he said. “They showcased a lot of gadgets and I was on hand through the day to give Ortis some tips and advice so he could hit the ball.

“He also had some coaching on the driving range using ball flight measuring technology and to show the impact that can have in coaching. He really seemed to take to it and when not filming would nip off to hit more balls so he was clearly enjoying himself.”

PGA pros play an active role in bringing new golfers into the game and The PGA’s Right Coach, Right Place, Right Time vision for coaching is aimed at ensuring first class coaching for every golfer regardless of ability from starter right through to elite level player.
