SNAG Golf has been a revelation for the LBGF Trust, a non-profit organisation in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The LBGF Trust uses the great game of golf as a tool to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children, by providing a positive impact on children, their families and communities.
According to South African statistics, there are over 4,277,000 children in the province of KwaZulu-Natal with 27.2% having neither parent, 52% live with a single parent, 10.8% having no schooling and 86.9% of the children are disadvantaged and are living under the poverty line. The need for youth development programs is validated and magnified by information that attributes long-term value to children in these programmes.
Furthermore, the programme gives children the grounding to build character and learn important life skills. SNAG Golf enables LBGF Trust to make great strides towards offering the children of South Africa hope of a brighter future.
SNAG golf has become an integral part of the LBGF Trust Coaching Program and has proved to be the perfect coaching system and partner to LBGF Trust. The coaching program can be taken to the rural schools and townships therefore the problem of logistics involved in getting children to a golf facility has been alleviated.
With very limited space within the rural schools and townships, SNAG provides the perfect platform to incorporate the LBGF Trust program into the schools life orientation lessons; weather no longer hampers coaching sessions as SNAG equipment can be used indoors.
SNAG to LBGF Trust is more than a golf development and introduction tool. SNAG has been instrumental in delivering the emotional intelligence modules of the LBGF Trust program, which not only teaches the children emotional intelligence and wellbeing but socially appropriate behaviour, better understanding of themselves and others, greater self-esteem and physical wellness. SNAG allows the children to interact with their peers and progress through the levels at their own pace and ability. With SNAG, no child is ever made to feel that they are not as good as the next child.
SNAG is all about having fun whilst learning the fundamentals of golf. It truly makes golf accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender or social demographic. SNAG is a proven development program designed for new learners and contains all the elements of golf in a modified and un-intimidating form. The SNAG system builds on strong fundamentals for putting, chipping, pitching and full swing skills to develop playing ability quickly and efficiently.
The incorporation of SNAG into the LBGF Trust Coaching Model has seen the number of disadvantaged children enrolled into the programme dramatically increase from 400 to 3000 in just three months.
