Launched at Saltex 2014 is the newly represented Graden product portfolio from Charterhouse Turf Machinery. This impressive range rubs shoulders with new and improved Redexim products – like the Verti-Drain® and Rink Topdresser range.
Following the announcement earlier in the year that Charterhouse were to take over the exclusive distribution of the Graden range of machinery, the display forms a ‘green’ corner in a sea of ‘red’. The flagship Graden machine, the Contour Sand Injection (CSI) unit, always attracts a lot of attention. As a scarifier/aerator, the CSI has the ability to scarify to any depth between 1mm-40mm whilst simultaneously backfilling the grooves with either sand or a combination of sand and seed.Powered by a 20hp V-Twin Honda engine, the CSI has a hydrostatic transmission and a 100kg sand hopper. Its multi-functionality significantly reduces the time required to complete the job, reducing play downtime without causing any detrimental effect to ground firmness.
Side by side another three models from the Graden range completes the ‘green’ offering. The SW04 Swing-WingVerticutter has 3 individual floating heads, taking undulating ground easily in its stride. Available with 59” or 79” cutting widths, it offers a variable cutting depth up to 45mm. In contrast, the GBS 1200 Straight Reel Verticutter is perfect for flat areas, providing a cutting depth of up to 45mm and working width of 48”.
Finally the original Graden pedestrian scarifier theGS04 – the smallest and lightest of the three models. A durable and versatile machine suitable for use on almost all sports surfaces. At 16” working wide and just 165kgit can be easily adjusted from performing mid-season dethatching, to aggressive scarification that reaches depths from 1mm to 40mm.
In the home colours of ‘red’, and on show for the very first time, Charterhouse has the Double Disc Overseeder 1430 one of three machines from the Double Disc range. This 1430 model has a working width of 1.4m and effectively delivers the seed accurately into the soil via discs, spaced 30mm apart, which cut slits in the ground. It drops and buries the seed up to 20mm (3/4”) deep in the ground; safely away from the weather and the beaks of hungry birds ensuring maximum germination. Also within the range are larger models, the DD1830 and DD2230, offer working widths of 1.83m and 2.2m respectively.
The X-Treme Clean, from the Redexim Synthetic portfolio forms another highlight. It retains all the features that have made this machine such a useful piece of kit, but with a brand new look. The main features of this new look include a redesigned working height adjustment, low friction wheels and differently configured brush layout. This new configuration ensures the complete surface is covered with a set of firm brushes that work in a horizontal rotary action to minimise stress on the carpet. The result is a vigorous brushing of the infill to bring it to the surface to aid decompaction of even the toughest sand-based surfaces.
