One of the south-west’s leading golf resorts has joined the world’s largest group of independently owned hotels and will henceforth be known as Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa.

The 35-bedroom hotel, which also boasts seven self-catering four-star, gold award lodges, will continue to remain independently owned but is now part of the Best Western family – one of the world’s most best-known brands with in excess of 4,000 independently owned and operated hotels located in more than 100 countries and territories.

Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa nestles between two excellent and renowned golf courses – the 18-hole Championship Course and nine-hole Dartmouth Course – in 225 acres of an area of outstanding natural beauty, just outside the beautiful town of Dartmouth. It is a quiet, tranquil and idyllic setting for any spa, leisure or golfing getaway and the perfect base from which to explore the region’s picturesque towns and sandy beaches.

And the recently opened Dartmouth Spa, the jewel in the crown of the relaxation-focused resort, includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fully equipped gym, and one of the few Rasul mud experiences in the south-west.

Best Western CEO Richard Lewis said: “Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa has always been an outstanding destination – one of the very best in the south-west of England – and it gives us great pleasure to welcome it to the Best Western family.

“Hotels know they get exceptional return on investment from us at 9.35 per cent of revenue. While the number of member hotels has remained fairly constant, our room stock’s risen consistently in the past five years.

“We’re attracting consistently higher quality hotels and we all reap the benefit. Owners are telling me they’re getting the best of both worlds; they keep their independence, we encourage them to retain their personality, but they also have the back up of a world-class sales, marketing and revenue operation.”

Jamie Waugh, managing director of Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa, added: “For guests, the biggest change they will notice is simply the name change and some of the branding around the resort. Guests can still expect the same high standards as they have already experienced but now with the added reassurance of one of the world’s biggest hotel brand names attached.

“Commercially, however, becoming part of the Best Western family brings with it a number of major benefits including increased buying and bargaining power, a worldwide reservation facility, and local and international marketing services.

“For smaller, independently owned hotels, such as ours, membership of Best Western is of major benefit in many different ways.”

Best Western International is based on a simple concept: independent hotel owners united to promote their properties and increase profitability. As a membership association, its hotels are independently owned and operated, and each member-owner has a voice in the operation of the company.
