A Buckinghamshire golf course, designed by Donald Steele, has been sold out of administration, saving a dozen jobs and paving the way for a round of investment.
Marlow-based Harleyford Golf Club appointed administrators John Kelly and Nigel Price of Begbies Traynor on 2 July 2014 after the business experienced trading difficulties.
The administrators worked with the previous management team to handle the sale of the business to Harleyford Golf Club Marlow Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Harleyford Group.
Rob Marsh, managing director of The Harleyford Group, said: “We are delighted that we’ve been able to bring the club back on a freehold basis. This acquisition will sit well within our existing leisure group and we very much wish to preserve the reputation and goodwill built up over many years.
“We believe Harleyford can be one of the premier clubs in the area and we’re looking forward to working with the members on this exciting new chapter in the club’s history.”
The move means the club’s 12 employees have retained their positions and plans have been put in place to breathe new life into the course and facilities.
Administrator John Kelly added: “Harleyford Golf Club is an absolutely superb golf course, which has a promising future ahead of it under new management as there is to be significant investment in the course and facilities, as well as changes to membership options.”
