One of the English Golf Union (EGU) and English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) initiatives to support golf, the Recruitment & Retention Toolkit, has proved to be a hit with clubs.
The Toolkit is a flexible guide containing examples and ideas that can easily be adapted to suit the needs of individual golf clubs who are concerned about the recruitment and retention of members.
Over 330 clubs have already bought a copy of the publication and another 200 have accessed the online resource, which were both launched earlier this year. Designed to support clubs through today’s commercially difficult times, the Toolkit offers advice and experiences from other clubs to help maintain healthy memberships.
There are nine sections in total, all of which contain valuable information to help new and existing members enjoy their golf club experience, from initial induction through to a structured coaching programme. Additional resources in the Toolkit include a Welcome Booklet, Tee to Green Introductory Programme and pocketsize booklets on Golf Rules and Etiquette.
In addition, to help clubs deliver activities detailed in the Toolkit, funding is available through the EGU Club Coaching Grant. Clubs who have been awarded GolfMark will be entitled to the full £800 grant and a £400 grant will be available to other clubs (limited funding available).
Richard Flint, EGU/EWGA Golf Development Manager commented, “The Toolkit provides golf clubs with real, practical examples that have been successfully used at other facilities. It provides a wealth of ideas for Club Secretaries, Managers and Professionals to pick and choose from. With additional funding available through the EGU Club Coaching Grant I would really encourage clubs to take advantage of this initiative.”
Details on how to apply for the Club Coaching Grant can be found on the EGU website at www.englishgolfunion.org/coachinggrant .
The Recruitment & Retention Toolkit examples and case studies are available to view and download at www.golfclubtoolkit.org or copies can be purchased from the EGU online shop.
Assistance with planning activities and events can be provided by the EGU/EWGA Development Team and County Development Officers. Details can be found on the EGU website www.englishgolfunion.org
The Recruitment & Retention Toolkit and Club Coaching Grant are initiatives jointly provided by the EGU and EWGA via England Golf’s ‘Whole Sport Plan’ for golf and is an integral part of England Golf’s vision to ‘Grow the Game’.
