The Golfers Club, which is based in Manchester, is celebrating a record year. Turnover has risen from £600,000 to over £1million and membership, which now consists of 34,000 amateur golfers, is up by 20%.The Club believes that this has further stretched its lead as the largest golf membership organisation in the UK.
Following last year’s acquisition of UK Golf, the company’s main competitor, The Golfers Club has successfully secured further additions and upgrades to the range of member benefits. These include an impressive product called Open Fairways, which provides golfers with savings of 50% off green fees for up to 8 players at over 320 courses throughout Great Britain.
A host of famous name venues such as Turnberry, Gleneagles, Royal Liverpool and Ballyliffin are included in the scheme as well as many prestigious courses across the north west of England, including Mere, Portal, Hillside, Tytherington and Marriott Worsley.
“The success of The Golfers Club stems from the quality of benefits and services we bring to our members,” said John Woosey, managing director of The Golfers Club. “Open Fairways offers massive savings on green fees and is proving very popular as a Christmas present and prize for golf days. Companies are also taking advantage of our volume discounts, using it as a novel and great value corporate gift or for their own corporate hospitality.”
Membership of The Golfers Club costs £39.95. This includes comprehensive golf insurance (now recognised as essential by most amateur golfers), up to £1,000 off golf equipment at JJB stores, green fee discounts at over 800 UK courses and a members only golf magazine containing further offers and features plus many other benefits. “The Golfers Club already delivers great value for money,” John continues, “and for many members is just as important as renewing their golf club fees. However, we are not resting on our laurels – we are firmly focused on negotiating further packages for our members in 2002.”
