When England’s David Lynn returns to Augusta this week to compete for a second time at the Masters Tournament, he’ll be wearing a shirt displaying the figure 400 on the collar to mark the number of European Tour appearances he has made since 1997.
Lynn, who enjoyed his best-ever season in 2013 with prize money of $1.6m (£960,000) having signed with Galvin Green to wear its high-performance clothing at the start of the year, led the Masters at one stage on his debut appearance 12 months ago when shooting an impressive first round 68, including six birdies. At the time, he was wearing a Merwin Ventil8™ shirt in Vibrant Yellow with a high level of breathability and moisture transportation to keep the body dry and cool.
For Thursday’s opening round, he plans to wear the shirt – a Galvin Green Ventil8™ Maxwell short sleeve shirt in Gunmetal/Spicy orange/Capri blue (RRP £89) – embroidered with the 400 number in the hope that it will inspire him to an even better result at Augusta second time around.
“I can’t think of a better place to celebrate the milestone and it would be great to mark my 400th Tour event with another special performance in a Major,” said David, who finished second to Rory McIlroy in the 2012 US PGA Championship. “I’m really looking forward to it, because I know what to expect this time around, especially when it comes to the pace of the greens. I’ll just try to play aggressive again and take it on a bit, but you have to play smart at times there too,” he added.
Wearing Galvin Green multi-layer clothing, Lynn enjoyed his best season in 18 years as a professional last year, including his first European Tour victory in nine years at the Portugal Masters with a final round 63. “I’ve worn a lot of the leading brands, but Galvin Green is far ahead when it comes to high-performance golf clothing,” he said.
