HLL Humberts Leisure, the property specialists to the golf and golf hotel industries, is instructed to market Burghill Valley Golf Club, Hereford. Offers in the region of £1.25 million are invited for the freehold property, which is being offered to the market for the first time since opening in 1991 as a retirement sale.
Burghill Valley Golf Club, which is located north of Hereford, comprises: a mature and highly attractive 18 hole 6,204 yard (par 70) golf course; a short game area, practice ground and putting green; a 600 sq m (6,500 sq ft) clubhouse with restaurant / function facilities; and a purpose built golf course management centre. Tree lined fairways, cider apple orchards and far reaching views over the Herefordshire countryside to Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains combine to provide a fine setting for the course, which has matured very well since opening.
Burghill Valley Golf Club operates as a proprietary members’ club and achieves a turnover of £740,000 (excluding golf shop sales) per annum. The business mix is approximately 32% membership income; 13% green fee income income; 49% food and beverage income and 7% miscellaneous sales. The Club has a loyal membership (874 members as at August 2009), a convivial atmosphere and a profitable trading record.
The sale is being handled by HLL Humberts Leisure. Ben Allen who is leading the sale said: “Burghill Valley Golf Club is a fine golf business. The club has a proven, consistent turnover; a stable membership; and an established food and beverage trade. The decision to sell the Club has been very hard for the present owner, who is keen to ensure that the Club is sold to purchaser who will continue to operate the business along current lines.”
