8.15am 23rd September 2013 - Exhibitions & Conferences

STRI_Event_2013_043A free interactive event hosted by STRI and attended by a record turnout of greenkeepers and groundstaff from across the UK has provided a glimpse into the future of the sports turf industry.

STRI Research 2013 was held at STRI’s research facilities in Bingley and featured demonstrations of innovative products, equipment and techniques currently undergoing scientific trials by the STRI Research team.

A number of STRI’s research partners supported the event demonstrating and explaining their latest trials including Aquatrols, Bayer, Everris, Farmura, R&K Kensett, Melspring, Rigby Taylor, Sherriff Amenity and Syngenta.

Key subject areas covered included: nutritional management, surfactant seed coating, managing turf in shady conditions, formulation technology and turf stabilisation, as well as showcasing some of the latest technology and machinery.

The two day event provided a valuable insight into the sportsturf management industry and looked at developments and emerging trends which will impact the industry over the next few years. Now in its third year, the event is rapidly establishing itself as one of the must attend events in the calendar for greenkeepers, course managers, fine turf managers, groundstaff and sports professionals.

Gordon McKillop, Chief Executive, STRI, said: “This year’s event was a resounding success with our best turnout yet and in just three years has established itself as a key event in the industry calendar. It provided the latest insight and expertise from our own scientists and industry experts to a wide variety of sports professionals and turf managers. This will no doubt help to improve and sustain the quality of their surfaces whether it’s an 18-hole golf course or a football pitch.

“STRI is proud to work closely in partnership with a variety of companies who are at the forefront of sportsturf research and management. This event allows the STRI Research team to showcase the array of innovative products, technology and techniques being trialled and continuing to advance the industry by sharing knowledge and best practice.“
