Firm appoints ‘Golf Tsar’ to support rapid increase in UK golfing holidays

7.54am 12th August 2013 - Travel

Rural Retreats websiteA luxury holiday firm has today appointed a new golf break specialist to support the growing number of people looking for quality self-catering properties close to leading golf courses.

The announcement comes after the company, luxury staycation specialist Rural Retreats, witnessed an industry-wide increase in golfing holiday sales; jumping 9 per cent in the last year, with worldwide sales exceeding £1.2bn.

Katie Drinkwater, has been appointed to advise on holiday letting accommodation situated near to major golf courses, and to make sure it meets the expectations of golfing enthusiasts.

As part of her role she runs the rule over major golf courses near to Rural Retreats accommodation, such as: Kendleshire, Ganton, Royal St David’s, Trevose and Royal Cromer. She will also be on hand to offer advice on what is available for non-golfing guests.
Drinkwater says: “At Rural Retreats we’ve seen a growing demand from golfers for particular packages, especially from our properties close to major golf courses. From a portfolio over 320 properties, over 250 are a short drive from popular courses. There’s also been a surge of interest in mid-week breaks from golfers, so we have responded accordingly.

“We also recognise that golfers often look to visit a location where there are a cluster of courses close together to be able to try different venues. Often this can prove more cost effective than staying on site; especially in cases where we can provide guests with mid-week discounts on our stays at our properties, and the growing number of discounts available through golf clubs with again, mid-week breaks.

“Our knowledge and experience means that we are able to take account of very different requirements, from finding properties to suit different sizes of groups, to matching what they want in terms of golfing challenge.

“Our wish is to consider all our guests and suggest locations with entertainment and attractions away from the course – either when taking time out, or for non-playing partners. Given I have this focus it means Rural Retreats continues to improve the luxury break options for golfers and their guests, from arrival to tee-off.”
