It was a busy week for golf courses in East Lothian, Scotland, during The Open Championship – none more so than The Renaissance Club, next door to Muirfield.

The private club, which recently invested more than £9 million in a new 34,000 square foot luxury clubhouse and course extension, played host to numerous groups and visitors, as well as becoming home to some of golf’s star players for the week.

The increased activity led to a call to Club Car to boost the venue’s vehicle fleet for the week – and the world’s largest the world’s largest manufacturer of small-wheel, zero-emissions electric vehicles was only too happy to assist with the lease of a special event fleet, through local distributor Thistle Groundcare.

Russell Smith, Director of Golf of The Renaissance Club, said: “With one of the world’s biggest sporting events happening just next door, it was inevitable that this would be the busiest week since the Club opened in 2008.

“We knew that we would need to add to the existing fleet of golf cars we have, so we put in a call to Club Car and they couldn’t have been more helpful. They were able to supply us with five additional vehicles, which helped us with our logistics and customer service throughout the week.”

Kevin Hart, Club Car Golf Director for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, said: “Week in, week out, Club Car supplies golf cars to European Tour tournaments and major sporting events, including The Ryder Cup.

“However, we also have the ability to help customers of any size with special event fleets on a short term lease basis, whether it be five or 50 vehicles.”
