Exclusive grass seed varieties available in the UK only through British Seed Houses (BSH) have received a welcome endorsement from the man responsible for the 2012 Ryder Cup golf course being in perfect condition.

Curtis Tyrrell, Director of Golf Course Operations at the Medinah Country Club told the annual Seed Research of Oregon Distributor Luncheon in San Diego: “Your grass is incredible.”

He oversaw a three year renovation of the course near Chicago, Illinois, which included seeding the greens and the fairways with 007 DSB and SR 1119 creeping bentgrasses.

BSH are exclusive agents for the two grass varieties in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.

SR 1119 creeping bent has been bred for its dark green colour, exceptional disease resistance and excellent green spread, all qualities required to produce top-performing golf greens.

The versatile 007 DSB creeping bent can be used on greens, tees and fairways, as a complete reseed or for overseeding. One of the ‘super bent’ varieties, it is widely adaptable to deliver the same results all over the world, from extreme heat to harsh cold conditions.

Offering superior turf quality, it eliminates winter stress discolouration and is highly competitive against poa annua. It has high disease resistance especially to Anthracnose, Fusarium and Snow Mould.

BSH has one of the most extensive bentgrass portfolios in the market with a specialist bentgrass variety available to suit any conditions.
