Fifteen years and more than two million golfers since it first started trading, Golfbreaks.com is this week celebrating reaching its 15th birthday milestone.
Having been founded by Chief Executive Andrew Stanley as a company specialising in Ryder Cup-style golf breaks for corporate and society golfers, Golfbreaks.com – under the leadership of Stanley and fellow Directors Guy Proddow, Steve Hemsworth and Daniel Grave – has grown to become Europe’s largest golf tour operator with a staff of 130 and annual sales of more than £40million.
“Reaching 15 years is a very significant milestone and something that we are all very proud of,” said Andrew Stanley. “We’ve grown a very large, and loyal, client base over the last 15 years and our success reflects the hard work we’ve put in to develop valued relationships with suppliers and partners in the industry.”
Far from resting on its laurels, the company – which also includes the UK’s leading online tee-time booking service Teeofftimes.co.uk and BookaSpa.com, which arranges spa breaks and days – is now looking firmly ahead to the next 15 years and adding to the four million rounds of golf booked since 1998.
An ambitious expansion plan that will cement its position as one of the leading players in the global golf travel industry is already well underway. Earlier in 2013 the first overseas office was opened, with Director Daniel Grave relocating to Charleston, South Carolina to oversee the American operation. The benefit of this has already been felt with the addition of a number of new destinations including California, Nevada, Arizona and North Carolina.
The increaseinGolfbreaks.com’s American offering is part of a global expansion that sees a whole raft of new destinations being added to the company’s existing portfolio of more than 2,000 properties. The likes of Porto and Bulgaria have already gone live, along with Finland and Estonia – in partnership with European Tour Properties. Thailand, Mauritius and the Dominican Republic will follow later in 2013.
Whether it’s reserving buggies or booking flights – as well as giving customers the lowdown on the world’s golfing hotspots with the new online Destination Guides – Golfbreaks.com is, more than ever, committed to providing the complete one-stop shop for the travelling golfer.
