St Mellion International Resort, flagship property in the Crown Golf group, has been nominated as ‘England’s Leading Golf Resort’ in the World Travel Awards 2013.
Established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry, the World Travel Awards are recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
Voting in St Mellion’s category closes on 16th June 2013, and the Awards will be announced in a Gala Ceremony in Turkey, on 31st August 2013. St Mellion is one of six English golf resorts nominated. The others are Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club, Stapleford Park Country House, StokePark, The Belfry and The Grove
Although the St Mellion International Resort has been nominated in the WTA before, a win in 2013 – in which St Mellion celebrates the 25th Anniversary of its Nicklaus Signature Course – would be the Resort’s first.
“We are pleased to receive this prestigious nomination,” said Resort DirectorStephenTowers. “It recognises the dedication and commitment of every individual team member to ensure each visitor to the resort enjoys an exceptional world-class service and holiday experience. It would be especially appropriate if we were to win this wonderful award in the year in which we also celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our iconic Nicklaus golf course.
“I hope that our many visitors and friends will take a moment to vote for St Mellion by visiting http://www.worldtravelawards.com/vote ” he said.
The Nicklaus Signature Course at St Mellion International Resort was recently voted ‘Best In The West’ by the readers of TODAY’S GOLFER, and St Mellion was named Best Large Hotel in the 2011 Cornwall Tourism Awards.
The Resort itself has an 80-bedroom, contemporary 4-Star hotel; two European Tour golf courses; three distinctly different dining experiences; an indoor leisure club and spa with three pools; and extensive meetings and conferencing facilities, all set in a stunning and tranquil 450-acre Cornish countryside location, a short distance from Plymouth.
