adidas Golf is excited to announce its official partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support for the Longest Day Golf Challenge.
The Longest Day Golf Challenge asks golfers of all ages and abilities to take on 72 holes of golf in one day and help raise money for people affected by cancer. Macmillan provides invaluable therapists, nurses, benefits advisors, and support line workers who make sure people living with cancer have the best team in their corner and no one has to face cancer alone.
“We are very excited and proud to be the official partners of the Longest Day Golf Challenge”, commented Greg Pearse, adidas Golf Brand Director, EMEA. “We want to leverage all of our customer and media relationships to create as much awareness as possible to ensure a record number of teams sign up. It’s a fantastic opportunity for golfers across the UK to unite behind a great initiative and raise lots of money for this incredible charity”.
This week, Macmillan Cancer Support and adidas Golf launched its partnership for the Longest Day Golf Challenge at Stoke Park Golf Club, with TaylorMade-adidas and Ashworth Golf staff professional Paul McGinley. Celebrities including DJ Spoony, Anton Du Beke, Charlotte Jackson & Zoe Hardman also attended the day to show their support, (pictured).
The Longest Day Golf Challenge is popular with a number of Macmillan’s celebrity supporters, including television presenter and keen golfer Tim Lovejoy who commented:
“The Longest Day Golf Challenge is a fantastic way to support a great cause. I know first hand how invaluable Macmillan’s work is – so why not show what you’re made of and sign up today?”
Be a hero for people affected by cancer and sign your team up today at http://macmillan.org.uk/longestdaygolf. The challenge can be completed on four different courses or the same course four times in one day.
To add to the excitement, the top four teams that complete the challenge will go on to compete for the coveted 2013 Longest Day Challenge Cup, the final of which will take place at Boavista Golf Resort, Portugal in October 2013.
In 2012, over 500 teams took part in the challenge and raised more than £560,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year the aim is to smash this total and raise £1 million for people affected by cancer. And what better way to fundraise for a worthy cause than by spending a summer’s day on the golf course?
This June, adidas Golf are taking on Macmillan’s Longest Day Golf Challenge back at Stoke Park Golf Club. Although the challenge involves doing 72 holes in a day, the adidas team plan to take it a step further and will attempt to conquer 100 holes – all in one day! Celebrities including Matt Dawson, Dan Walker, Anton Du Beke, Charlotte Jackson, amongst others, will also take on this challenge.
