The 6th annual educational conference TURF EDUCATION SLOVAKIA, focused on maintenance of professional turf surfaces, attracted up to 80 visitors from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia and Slovenia.

Event was supported by industry leaders with Baroness as General Partner, and Club Car, TORO, ENGO Group, Indigrow, Everris, Maredo, 3G Machinery, Engelmann Golfplatzpflege, Turf Lighting Solutions and others as Business Partners.

Conference delegates – mostly course managers, head greenkeepers and groundsmen – had excellent opportunity to enjoy interesting speeches.

TurfEducation_KatarinaAce54Event was opened by Jonathan Pendry (International Turf Company), who gave delegates an overview of importance of soil and water analyses. Andy Cole (STRI) followed Jonathan with really informative presentation about Quality of golf greens – Assessment and measurement of all of their parameters by using The Trueness Meter TM.

Ken Siems (Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club) shared his rich experience in preparation a large scale tournament. He outlined important aspects of tournaments which include: Planning and preparation, Budgeting, Anticipate and plan for the unknown – controlling contractors, vandalism, wet weather etc. Miroslav Sigut´s (ENGO Group) speech was focused on irrigation. In uncertain times, when budgets stretched to breaking point, effective water management is a real issue.

The day program was closed by Ruth Mann (STRI), who explored differences coming from comparison of bent and fescue sward in relation to disease management.

ENGO Group, as conference organizer and company with 20 years of experience in industry, is happy to receive a lot of very positive feedbacks from delegates.

After two conferences held in Moscow last autumn it was great to return to home country, Slovakia, and outstanding occasion for meetings and discussions.
