Jeff HowesGolf Design recently targeted the Asia Golf Show in Shenzhen for the launch of their Chinese Language Website. The site which went “live” the week before the AGS 2012 show is hosted in China and can be accessed at www.jeffhowesgolfdesign.cn.
“The attendance at the Asia Golf Show 2012 was probably slightly up in numbers on the previous two years when it was inGuangzhou,” said Jeff. “Of course there was nowhere near the same number of people attending as at the China Golf Show held annually in Beijing.”
Regarding the current situation in China there has been no official word that the moratorium on the building of golf courses has been lifted, however there does seems to be more optimism around.
Jeff Howes continued, “’Hope’ is perhaps the word that would best describe the feeling in and around industry partners. All involved in the industry are hopeful that the demand for golf in China will have to met eventually.
“Many of the current sites / potential projects on architects’ drawing tables would lead one to believe the moratorium has made investors realise that they can no longer develop unsustainable projects which utilise valuable agricultural land.
“As it was in Japan in the late 80’s, the sites available for golf development going forward will be more extreme in topographical terms and therefore also more costly to construct.”
