Malt Whisky Society Tees Off New Golf Partnership

10.09am 5th October 2012 - Travel

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society and Golf East Lothian have unveiled a unique whisky and golf dining experience for golf enthusiasts looking to try something a little bit different during their golfing break in Scotland. It directly addresses a golfer’s frustration in finding the perfect place to relax and contemplate after the game (perhaps with a putt or two) – the elusive ‘19th Hole’.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society launched the partnership with an exclusive event at their 28 Queen Street Members Rooms, with VIP guests from golf, tourism and business sectors, as well as key press.

Available at both of the Society’s private Members Rooms in Edinburgh and Leith, groups of six or more can now indulge in a golf-themed private whisky tasting and a three course dinner following a day on the fairways.

Between courses, guests are invited to put their skills to the test on the new ‘Puttup’ indoor putting game, to win a rare bottle of Society single cask, single malt whisky.

This private events package can also be enhanced to suit your requirements with a selection of golfing entertainment including:

The Society has also developed a five star golf day at the renowned Archerfield Links in association with TPEGS (Tour Pro Experience Golf Schools).

The SMWS Golf Day is the perfect choice for friends, colleagues or clients and would fit seamlessly into any golfing break in Scotland.  The day includes bespoke tuition with Andrew Coltart and Gary Nicol from TPEGS and a game on either Fidra or Dirleton courses at Archerfield Links; refreshments, lunch and Society whisky included.

Commenting on the new whisky and golf partnership, Mark van der Vijver from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society said: “The ‘19th Hole’ at the Society provides enthusiasts the chance to enjoy two of Scotland most famous exports; whisky and golf.  We have worked closely with leading golf partners to develop an exclusive and entertaining private experience and are confident every detail will enhance the guests’ golf experience in Scotland.”

Golf East Lothian is an initiative developed by East Lothian Council’s Economic Development, the East Lothian Golf Tourism Alliance and other partners. East Lothian is one of the best regions for golf in Scotland, with 22 courses offering choice to golfers of all standards and tastes. Courses include Archerfield Links, Dunbar, North Berwick, Musselburgh, Gullane and The Open Championship course at Muirfield, as some of the world’s oldest and most admired www.golfeastlothian.com
