Chip pan fire destroys golf clubhouse

12.29am 27th April 2009 - Course Development

A fire at Little Hay Golf Club in Hertfordshire, which is thought to have been started by a chip pan, needed more than 70 firefighters to tackle the blaze but they were unable to save the clubhouse.

Temporary buildings have been brought in and the course has re-opened but it could be two years before a new clubhouse can open.

Little Hay Golf Complex is a public golf course which opened in September 1977. Since December 2007 the Dacorum Sports Trust has been responsible for the management of the complex which includes an 18 hole golf course, a 25 bay driving range, a 6 hole short course, and practice facilities.
