The United Kingdom Golf Course Owners Association (UKGCOA) has created a series of ‘free to attend’ roadshow events located around the country for all golf club owners to attend
Feedback from the first event, at Kendleshire Golf Club on 12th September has been very positive.
Stephen Lewis, CEO – Crown Golf, UKGCOA Member and Board member: “I think one of the important things about attending the roadshows is… golf is a very fragmented industry… and the roadshows provide an opportunity to meet people who are operating in the same industry, share best practice, ideas, and learn about what has worked and what hasn’t worked…
“I have been involved in other industries that have built up associations… and to begin with, it needs a bit of commitment but over time the relationships you make in that industry through the association will bring you… vital rewards in terms of gaining different perspectives and also being able to share the successes and challenges you have had and finding the solutions to it… So the growth of the association needs people in the short term to make a commitment… its as much as what they (members) can bring to it as what the association can give to them, but I know from previous experience that it can become a meaning, powerful and worthwhile thing to be a part of.”
Jon Cowgill, Stakeholder Owner – Farrington Golf Club, 27 hole, and a Non-Member said: “We came here to learn abit more about TAX and the VAT side of things, and got quite a bit more than what we expected out of it and so on today, we want to join the UKGCOA.”
