Club Whets Golfing Appetites in St Andrews

7.25am 15th August 2012 - Travel

As the countdown begins for September’s Ryder Cup, The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews launches the 12th year of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Dining Club.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a celebration of links golf with a field of world-class pro’s teaming up with some of the most famous amateurs – and the five red star resort is an official partner for the four day event that culminates with the final round on the Old Course in St Andrews on Sunday 7th October.

Helen Parker, Director of Sales, Marketing & Real Estate Developments at the iconic resort, explains their support and involvement saying: “We are proud to present the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Dining Club to showcase the exceptional talents of our award-winning team – providing those visiting the Championships with the opportunity to experience the home of Scottish cuisine in the Home of Golf.”

Helen adds: “The Club was launched in 2000 and has proved to be exceptionally popular with those visiting the Championship. This year, with more accolades and awards for our dining team and experiences – as well as our recently relaunched Road Hole Restaurant – we expect the level of interest to be even higher.”

The Club package includes all that you would expect from one of the world’s best hotels. Head chef, Ross Marshall, overseeing the exclusive dining experience, says: “We have designed the menu to include some of the finest and freshest Scottish produce as well as selected ingredients from around the world to reflect the international flavour of this event.”

Whether choosing from Crayfish with Gazpacho or Carrot Risotto with Parsley Crust as a starter, or tempted by Gartmorn Farm Chicken, Rib-eye Steak or Organic Salmon as main course, many of the ingredients used by Ross and his team for the Dining Club experience have travelled less than 30 miles from where they have been reared, produced, caught or foraged.

Ross adds: “The enjoyment of any event is heightened by a great dining experience, and we are keen to ensure the Dining Club exceeds the expectations of those attending this year’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.”

Resort General Manager, Daniel Pereira, looks forward to welcoming players and guests to the resort in October saying: “The Championship is always a fabulous end to theUK’s golfing season and this year, newly-crowned Open Champion, Ernie Els, will be playing.”

Daniel adds: “What better way to enjoy this incredible event than joining us for the Dining Club overlooking the world famous Road Hole of the Old Course? It is the finest view in Home of Golf – and our guests will enjoy the very best Scottish food.”

The package, from £195 per person, is available on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October and includes morning coffee and tea with freshly baked pastries, a 3-course lunch with fine wines, afternoon tea and coffee with homemade scones, a souvenir programme and daily draw sheet, entry badge and preferred parking together with priority seating in the grand stand overlooking the18th green of the Old Course.
