One of golf’s top up-and-coming custom golf club providers, Tour59, has become an official partner to the 2012 English Challenge at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa from 26-29 July.
Tour59 will bring its own innovative brand of custom-fitted wedges, which are forged, machined, hand ground and finished entirely in the UK, to the European Challenge Tour event when it returns to East Anglia.
The partnership will bring a very different brand of emerging English talent to a tournament which features some of the English Golf Union’s top amateurs amongst a field featuring some of the most gifted young professionals in European golf.
Tour59 will be present on site all week for any players looking to perfect their game around the green with wedges tailored for their needs, a service also provided at this year’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club.
The English Challenge has grown to become one of the biggest events on the Challenge Tour and in the past two years has provided the respective winners with a pathway to The European Tour.
Last year, Frenchman Benjamin Hebert sealed a second win in as many weeks at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa before going on to win a third Challenge Tour title in the same season to automatically qualify for The European Tour.
“The Challenge Tour prides itself on innovation and nurturing up-and-coming talent so I think Tour59 makes a perfect partner for the English Challenge,” said Challenge Tour Director Alain de Soultrait.
“The fact that Tour59 is a company with strong English roots is also very fitting as this tournament has played a huge part in the development of young English players in recent years, while Stoke by Nayland will also provide a perfect platform to showcase these custom-built wedges to players from around the world.”
Jon Fitzpatrick of Tour59 said: “We are delighted to be linking up with the English Challenge as we bring our unique brand of wedges to the professional market.
“As a completely-British manufacturer, the English Challenge is the perfect place to showcase our clubs, which have been developed to cater for the needs of the modern professional and we are sure the clubs will be very popular with any players, or spectators, who try them out.”
This year’s English Challenge will feature all of the home-based players to have won on the Challenge Tour this year – Phillip Archer, Seve Benson, Eddie Pepperell and Sam Walker – while three-time European Tour winner Nick Dougherty will also be present.
