Currently designing in five continents across the globe, Swan Golf Designs recently hosted an exclusive reception for golf developers at the British High Commission in New Delhi. The event was deemed a huge success with the attendance list reading like a ‘who’s who’ of Indian Golf, whilst also receiving the support of the Mongolian Ambassador, Mr Voroshilov Enkhbold, and a representative from the High Commission for Pakistan.
Also in November, the SGD team attended the inauguration of the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) Club in Bangalore, at which it had recently completed the high-profile renovation work and also attended as an exhibitor at the third Asia Golf Industry Show (AGIS), in New Delhi.
As evidence of the high regard in which the practice is held, Howard Swan was asked to deliver a keynote speech at the AGIS and then went on to Mission Hills in China to the Asia Pacific Golf Development Summit (APGDS), where he was again asked to speak on key topics facing the industry.
The skill and creativity of Swan Golf Designs dedicated team received acclaim at the APGDS when the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) Club was recognised as one of the top five renovation projects in Asia.
Commenting on the news, SGD’s William Swan said, “The renovation of KGA was an enormous challenge. The work involved the reconstruction and enlargement of the course’s interconnected water features as well as raising the level of the fairways to improve drainage.
“All 18 greens were rebuilt and five flights of tees were constructed resulting in a course measuring over 7,200 yards from the back tee, whilst remaining a playable length for the members’ daily game.
“We are tremendously proud of our work at KGA; they now boast a course of championship standards which can recover quickly from the inevitable monsoon rains facilitating play all year round.”
