The Professional Golfers‘ Association has expanded its portfolio of branded golf facilities after agreeing a deal with Al Salouma Investment Company to brand a golf academy at 6th October City, Egypt.
ASIC is an Egyptian based investment company that is actively developing and expanding golf throughout Egypt. ASIC wants to position Egypt alongside the international golfing community, by highlighting Egyptian talent and commitment to one of the world’s fastest growing sports, in part by training young talented players to be able to compete professionally on tour.
Located just outside of Cairo, the PGA Golf Academy at 6th October City will be close to five championship golf courses. It will enable ASIC to provide employment opportunities for Egyptian and international golf professionals at the Academy; act as a focus for golf education in Egypt; and further develop golf in Egypt by providing a class leading teaching and practice facility.
Property and commercial director Robert Maxfield said, “We are delighted to be associated with such a fantastic development in Egypt. We believe the facilities will enhance and grow the game of golf and we are very proud that they will carry the PGA brand.”
The PGA Golf Academy at 6th October City will join a growing list of other PGA branded facilities worldwide, all of which require the highest standards of design, safety and technological and educational equipment. Other PGA branded facilities include the PGA National Course and Academy at The Belfry, a four-time Ryder Cup venue and headquarters to the PGA, as well as the famous PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles (host to the 2014 Ryder Cup).
The PGA’s international facilities include the award-winning Beijing No 9 in China, Roda Golf & Beach Resort in Spain and the PGA Sultan Course at Turkey’s Antalya Golf Club (recently awarded the host venue for the Eisenhower Trophy in 2012), while further facilities are undergoing development in countries as diverse as Cape Verde, India, Russia and Tunisia.
