Harleyford Golf Course, voted one of the top ten new golf courses in the UK by Golf World in 1998, is being offered for sale on the retirement of Brian Folley, the club’s founder and current chairman.
The Donald Steel designed 6,809, 18 hole course is laid out in the Thames side park land of the Harleyford Estate near Marlow, which dates back to the 13th century. The course has matured well since it opened in 1996. Membership is by debenture only and is fully sold, the most recent 7-day debenture price being £8,900. The turnover of the business for the year ended 31st March 2000 was in excess of £1.4million.
The club house has been skilfully converted from the 19th century Home Farm buildings. Measuring 12,600 square feet it is decorated internally to a high standard in keeping with the club’s exclusive philosophy.
Strutt & Parker, incorporating William Hillary Leisure and Hotels, is handling the sale. “The sale of Harleyford Golf Club, on the retirement of Brian Folley, provides a rare opportunity to acquire a top quality golf course in the affluent Thames Valley only 35 miles from the centre of London,” said partner William Hillary. “We expect strong interest from UK and overseas buyers.”
Offers are invited for the property and business based on a guide price of £4 million.
