Danish brand ECCO – maker of the world’s most comfortable, stylish and technically-advanced footwear – confirms that its renowned Golf Street has been honoured as the “Most Innovative Golf Product of 2011” at Europe’s largest consumer golf show.

This award, presented at the Rheingolf show in Cologne, Germany, is the latest in a long line of distinctions for the game’s first hybrid sport-casual shoe. Previous accolades include Product of the Year (ScoreGolf Magazine), Newsmaker of the Year (Golf World / Golf Digest) and a Reader’s Choice Award (About.com), among others.

“This tremendous recognition is extra special, because it was determined by an independent jury of journalists, retailers and German golf celebrities,” says Michael Waack, Head of Global Golf at ECCO. “It’s a true credit to the consistently outstanding work of our product development and design teams, led by ECCO President Dieter Kasprzak.”

Launched as part of the company’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Golf Street pioneered an entire footwear category. It remains the only hybrid shoe to deliver the necessary comfort, traction and stability under wet conditions during a major championship.

Like all ECCO golf shoes, each pair is constructed using a Direct Injection process that provides superior cushioning, support and weather resistance via a one-piece shoe that’s built without glue or stitching. It features a patented outsole with 100 molded TPU traction bars that have been shown to last five times longer than rubber.

ECCO men’s golf shoes are worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Fred Couples, Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjorn, Stuart Appleby, Thongchai Jaidee, Thorbjørn Olesen and many others.
