Ayrshire-based golf course construction company Greenmakers by Nelson&Vecchio has been awarded the firm’s second large golf course renovation contract in Denmark. The work to be performed at the 27-hole Vejle Golf Club will consist of renovation of 15 green sites as well as construction of 74 new bunkers and 14 new tees. The work will commence mid-March and will be completed by the end of June.

Manager of Vejle Golf Club, Mr Bo Vaaben commented: “The reason we picked Greenmakers by Nelson&Vecchio to carry out the renovation work was their commitment in making the project work for our members, especially in terms of the very tight 15-week construction schedule. We were also able to work out a renovation programme that will address all important issues with the course while making it possible to keep the course open throughout the renovation, so I’m very happy.”

Managing Director David Nelson: “We are delighted that the management and the members of Vejle Golf Club have trusted us to carry out this significant update to their already fabulous course. The very compact construction schedule is a challenge, but a challenge we’re very happy to take on. I’m confident we’ll deliver a course that the members will be proud of for years to come.”

The architect for the project is Philip Spógard of Spógard & Van der Vaart, with whom David Nelson’s crew is also working on a renovation of Himmerland Golf & Country Club’s PGA New Course. Spógard&VanderVaart were recently awarded the Development of the Year 2011 award by the Golf Inc. magazine.
