The South Devon Golf Tour has made an exciting addition for 2012 with Thurlestone Golf Club joining the list of top courses available on one of England’s best value-for money breaks.
The Tour has enjoyed rapid growth since being launched two years ago and the inclusion of Thurlestone means it is now able to offer eight of the region’s leading venues to travelling golfers – with prices starting from just £159 per person for a three-round, two-night stay.
Visitors have a wide selection of courses to choose from, with Dartmouth Golf & Country’s Club highly-regarded Championship Course, Bovey Castle, Bigbury, Churston, Dawlish Warren, China Fleet and Dainton Park all available – and the tour’s reputation is set to expand even further with Thurlestone coming on board.
The cliff-top parkland venue, located two miles from Kingsbridge, is regarded as one of the premier courses in the area and offers breathtaking views of the Devon and Cornwall coastline.
Russell Thomas, general manager of Thurlestone Golf Club, said: “We’redelighted to be on board with South Devon Golf Tours. We have already seen a significant uplift in our green fee sales for 2012 and the tour is one of the primary factors behind this.”
Packages for the South Devon Golf Tour, which are based at Dartmouth Golf & Country Club, begin from £159 per person which includes two nights’ bed and breakfast and one two-course dinner in addition to three rounds of golf.
Golf rounds are made up of one round on Dartmouth’s Championship course and two rounds on a choice of China Fleet, Bigbury, Dawlish Warren, Dainton Park, Churston and Thurlestone, while golfers can also enjoy unlimited golf on the nine-hole Dartmouth Course during their stay.
For a £30 supplement guests can play one of their rounds at the renowned Bovey Castle, while guests also receive complimentary use of Dartmouth’s leisure facilities, which include an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna.
The idea of the management team at Dartmouth, the South Devon Golf Tour has won widespread praise from both golfers and industry chiefs since its inception in spring 2010.
A survey among participants last year revealed that 100 per cent rated the tour as excellent or good with all stating that they would book a repeat tour for the future, while the tour also won recognition at the 2010 South Devon Excellence Awards for its role in attracting golfers to the south-west.
Dartmouth Golf & Country Club is located just four miles from the historic town of Dartmouth and is the ideal base from which to explore the delights of south Devon, with Dartmoor, the River Dart, fantastic beaches and a host of picturesque towns and villages nearby.
