Following a successful outcome for STRI’s first FACTS turf certified training course in February, STRI is repeating the course in September from 22-26, 2008
The new course is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the turf care industry and is suitable for all those providing advice on fertilisers and their application in the sports and amenity industries, both in the UK and other countries in Europe. The initial course included a delegate from a Swiss trade company supplying fertilisers.
The qualification is administered and certified by BASIS, who first established the FACTS scheme in 1993 for advisors and sellers of fertiliser to the agricultural and horticultural sectors. This new five day course, which STRI is operating, has been created by BASIS specifically for the sports and amenity sectors.
The FACTS turf qualification is obtained by evidence of knowledge and understanding of plant nutrition, fertiliser types, environmental issues and legislation. It is a national qualification providing holders with a Certificate of Competence and membership of the BASIS Professional Register and FACTS Annual Scheme.
Anyone who advises on fertilisers and their application is only too aware that demand for higher levels of technical expertise has increased significantly. This new course will become an essential requirement for advisors and sellers working in our industry. Cost for the 5 day course including examination £1,109 plus VAT [per person for the training modules and £139 plus VAT for the exam.
