Upgrade for Patshull Park Golf Club

8.23am 14th April 2008 - Management Topics

Patshull Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, has found an environmentally-efficient way to keep its golf course in tip-top condition. As part of a £180,000 refurbishment programme, the club is harnessing water from an underground spring on the estate to provide drinking water for its new greenkeeping facility and for keeping machinery clean.

The £180,000 green keeping investment will provide new, state-of-the-art facilities including workshops, offices and secure store areas. There are also plans to improve drainage to key bunkers and the enlargement of the third tee during the coming year. The entire development programme is set to establish Patshull Park’s reputation as one of the leading corporate and social golfing venues in the Black Country.

The greenkeeping team is led by Geoff Allinson, who is extremely proud of Patshull Park’s par 72, John Jacobs designed parkland course, saying, “The upgrading of facilities will contribute to even better greens; we’ll be able to do routine repairs to machines, which have previously had to be done off site, we’ll be able to maintain the facilities to an even higher standard, it’s good news all round for enthusiastic golfers.”

Meanwhile the hotel’s 49 bedrooms, many with beautiful views of the golf course and lake, have also undergone extensive refurbishment. “It is a little like the Forth Bridge at Patshull Park”, said sales manager, Gareth Bannister, “as soon as you have completed a refurbishment it seems the whole process has to start again”.
