New Resort Video Guides Essential Viewing for Golfers

9.03am 9th February 2012 - Travel

Golfers looking to book a golf break in 2012 can now make a more informed choice thanks to the industry-leading introduction of resort video guides on Golfbreaks.com.

Designed to complement the existing brochure and website descriptions, the 90-second slots feature high-definition footage of the golf course, hotel and leisure facilities at many of the top resorts in the UK and Europe, giving golfers the inside track on the venue and the confidence to try new places. The videos were shot and edited by a specialist production company that also works with BBC Sport and the European Tour.

Confirming its status as the market leader, Golfbreaks.com is the first UK golf tour operator to offer such a service to its customers.  A dedicated area of the website already features more than 25 videos, including leading venues such as Celtic Manor, the Belfry and La Manga, with a second phase imminent that will see many more go live from March onwards.

“Our customers told us that they would like to see even more details about our golf resorts and courses,” said Guy Proddow, Director of Golfbreaks.com. “With the arrival of faster broadband speeds and the meteoric rise of video-sharing websites, creating an online bank of video guides seemed like a great way to help our customers decide which venue to visit. They give golfers a real feel for the resort that brochures and websites simply can’t provide and we will be producing more and more in order to make choosing even easier.”

According to leading global information services company, Experian Hitwise, UK internet visits to video websites have increased by 80% in the last three years, with 785 million visits being recorded in September 2011. More than 70% of these visits were to the video-sharing site, YouTube.

Confirming this increased desire for video content, the bespoke resort videos have already proved hugely popular among golfers. Since going live in December, there have been more than 10,000 viewings on the Golfbreaks.com website and YouTube channel.

The introduction of resort video guides is just another example of Golfbreaks.com’s continued commitment to service excellence. On 2nd January the Windsor-based company announced it was extending opening hours by more than 30%, staying open until 9 pm during the week and until 6 pm on Saturday. Sunday opening was also introduced for the first time, enabling golfers to book at their own convenience.
