Ransomes Jacobsen presented a new range of turf utility vehicles at BTME 2012 with the launch of the Cushman Hauler.
Cushman is a name synonymous with rugged, versatile utility vehicles; they introduced the first purpose designed utility vehicle for the golf sector – the Turf-Truckster – in 1969 and this latest range of vehicles continues that heritage.
The Hauler range offers numerous features designed to make daily maintenance on golf courses more efficient. A limited slip differential, which comes as standard, provides greatly improved traction on wet or loose terrain, and minimises possible turf damage from wheel slip.
Each Hauler features a standard steel brush guard and integrated front bumper to protect the body panels, paintwork and vehicle components from the wear of daily use and abuse. The Hauler’s roof and tubular-steel support struts are designed to offer maximum visibility and protection from the elements, and also provide a modern, stylish look. Large headlights integrated into the vehicle’s cowl are specially designed and positioned for maximum light dispersion in front of, and around, the vehicle’s front providing high visibility at dawn and dusk.
There are four different models with various payload capacities and powertrain options:
- Hauler 800 — The Cushman Hauler 800 is available with either a quiet, zero-emissions 48-volt electric drivetrain or a high-torque, fuel-efficient 9.7 kW (13hp)Kawasaki engine with a hemispheric combustion chamber. With a maximum capacity of 363 kg, a 0.17m3 cargo bed and bench seating for two, the Hauler 800 is an ideal runabout vehicle for smaller tasks and transporting greenkeeping staff around the course.
- Hauler 1000 — For larger jobs that require additional payload, the Cushman Hauler 1000 provides a total capacity of 454 kg and a larger cargo bed of 0.27m3. The Hauler 1000 is fully electric, with a zero-emissions 48-volt electric drivetrain and eight six-volt batteries providing more power and extended range between charges. For tasks that require even more cargo space, the Hauler 1000 can be built with an optional 0.42m3 aluminium cargo bed. The Hauler 1000’s bench seat can accommodate two people.
- Hauler 1200 — The Cushman Hauler 1200 is the largest vehicle in the Hauler range, with a 544 kg capacity and a 0.27m3 cargo bed. The Hauler 1200 is powered by a powerful yet fuel-efficient 9.7 kW (13hp)Kawasaki engine, and seats up to two people. The vehicle is also offered with an optional 0.42m3 aluminium cargo bed to handle jobs that require more cargo space.
- Hauler 1200X — When the job requires a vehicle that can navigate over and through the toughest terrain, look to the Cushman Hauler 1200X. The Hauler 1200X is available as a fully electric model powered by a 48-volt drivetrain that offers 15.2 cm of ground clearance and a total carrying capacity of 454 kg. Alternatively, the 9.7 kW (13hp) petrol-engined model offers 13.5 cm of ground clearance with a carrying capacity 363 kg. Both models feature rugged tyres and a 0.27m3 cargo bed; for jobs that require more capacity, the vehicle is also offered with an optional 0.42m3 aluminium cargo bed.
To meet specific needs, Cushman Haulers can be customised with a wide variety of options and accessories, ranging from towing implements, locking glove boxes and powered carrying beds to enclosed cabs and ball-picker cages on some models.
