Owner sought for Golf Hotel

A popular hotel and golf complex with breathtaking sea views from the North Yorkshire coast is up for sale.

Hunley Hall Hotel and Golf Club, on the outskirts of Brotton near Saltburn-by-Sea, is on the market at a guide price of £2.25m through Savills Regional Leisure Team.

The complex, set in scenic countryside overlooking Hummersea Bay, is acknowledged as one of the finest on this stretch of coastline. The AA*** hotel, which opened in 2006, has 28 double/twin en suite bedrooms, two bars, lounges and a popular restaurant which can accommodate up to 120 diners.

Linked to the hotel is the golf clubhouse, with a pro-shop and locker rooms. Hunley’s original 18-hole par 73 course was designed by John Morgan and opened in 1993. Since then, the course has been expanded to provide 27 golf holes which can be configured to provide different 18-hole layouts. The golf club also has a practice area, putting green and 12-bay floodlit driving range.

Completing the property at Hunley is a detached three-bedroom owner’s bungalow, built in 1996 of brick beneath a tiled roof.

Kay Smith, of Savills in Oxford, says, “Hunley is in a stunning position and, with an annual projected turnover of £1.1m, is potentially a good business proposition. We expect most interest to come from lifestyle buyers and existing golf operators, although it may also attract hoteliers and local entrepreneurs in general.”
