The Belfry, four-time venue for the Ryder Cup, has won the ‘Best Hotel/Resort’ and ‘Best Course’ accolades for the East and West Midlands area in the first Travel Awards run by the UK’s top-selling golf magazine Today’s Golfer.

The awards – chosen by thousands of readers in association with top golf travel operator Your Golf Travel – positioned The Belfry as the number one resort in the category with 51% of the votes, ahead ofForest of Arden(22%) and Forest Pines (12%).

Meanwhile, in the ‘Best Course’ poll, the iconic Ryder Cup Brabazon course claimed 43% of the votes – more than second placed Woodhall Spa (23%) andForest of Arden(16%) combined.

The awards complement recent figures of growth announced by The Belfry from 2011. The number of rounds played over the resort’s Brabazon, PGA National andDerbycourses increased by 10% during the year, while the number of custom-fit sessions in the PGA National Academy exceeded 2,000 – representing another 10% increase.

“We’d like to thank all Today’s Golfer readers who voted for us in what is yet another major accolade for the resort,” said The Belfry’s Director of Golf Gary Silcock. “It’s further proof that when golfers come to The Belfry, they’re not only impressed with the world-class condition of the golf courses, but also with the level of service in our hotel, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities.”

The award-winning golf resort was also able to report an increase of 8% in the number of visitors booking Stay & Play deals, with the most popular break being the ground-breaking ‘2 nights, 3 rounds’ deal that is available from just £270.

It was announced last week that The Belfry is for sale through commercial property agent Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.
