Low-fare flights to Fort Lauderdale and San Diego

British golfers will soon have cheaper, easier access to some of America’s finest golf courses thanks to Zoom Airlines, the leading low-fare transatlantic airline. Zoom has announced two new routes this summer which will operate from London Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale in Florida and San Diego in Southern California.

The first of Zoom’s new routes will be launched in May from London Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale in Florida. Zoom will be the first scheduled airline in 10 years to offer flights from any European airport to this sunshine resort.

Zoom will offer twice weekly direct flights to Fort Lauderdale on Thursdays and Sundays with fares starting from £399 return including all taxes.

From June, Zoom will offer the only direct air service between Europe and San Diego when Zoom’s flights from London to the southern Californian city are introduced. San Diego is notable as being the largest US city without a direct European air service, and there are around 80,000 passengers a year travelling to London via alternative US airports including Atlanta, Dallas and Houston.

A twice weekly non-stop service will operate from London Gatwick to San Diego with flights departing on Mondays and Fridays. Fares start at £399 return including all taxes.

Hugh and John Boyle, the owners of Zoom, said that they were delighted to announce the new routes which confirmed Zoom’s position as the leading low-fare airline across the Atlantic.

John Boyle said, “These new routes confirm our commitment to offering customers lower airfares across the Atlantic. Direct flights to Fort Lauderdale and San Diego will offer a convenient low-fare service from London which allows customers to avoid the need to change ‘planes en route. It’s all part of the low-fare revolution that we started earlier this year with our launch of flights to New York.

“Fort Lauderdale and San Diego are extremely popular golfing destinations and we are delighted to be offering low-cost travel allowing British golf enthusiasts the opportunity to play some of the most outstanding courses in the world, which up until now, were prohibitively expensive to travel to.”

Fort Lauderdale is renowned for its range of excellent courses, catering to all budgets and levels of skill. The year round sunshine and beautiful Atlantic coastline provide the perfect backdrop to a golfing holiday, whilst specialist golf resorts cater to the travelling golfer’s every need. The city and surrounding area boasts an impressive 65 courses, including exclusive championship courses, such as The Club at Emerald Hills, friendly executive courses and accessible municipal courses. What’s more, Fort Lauderdale’s wealth of entertainment, shopping and pristine sun drenched beaches offer plenty of activity for less golf-enthused family members.

San Diego is one of California’s best kept secrets as a top American golf destination. Named in Golf Digest’s Top 50 golf destinations in the world, San Diego has a wide range of courses to suit all levels of player. The city boasts a number of championship golf courses, including the Four Seasons Resort Aviara and Torrey Pines Golf Course, which will be hosting the 2008 US Open Championship. As well as golf, the city has lots to offer the whole family, with gorgeous surfing spots, great nightlife and Disneyland just a short distance away.

Zoom operates an ‘easyJet-style’ booking service with flexible one-way fares and the flights offer Economy and Premium Economy services with allocated seating, meals and soft drinks included in the fare in all cabins, and an enhanced service available in the Premium Economy cabin.
