The Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE) has announced that Toro, the world’s leading supplier of specialist irrigation and turf maintenance products, has become a Premier Corporate Partner.
The two-year agreement will help the CMAE develop its newly launched Certified Club Manager (CCM) programme, the first internationally recognised professional qualification for club managers in Europe, which is set to become an industry benchmark.
“Toro shares our vision for a pan-European educational programme and we are grateful for its investment, support and expertise,” said Jerry Kilby, CMAE chief executive officer. “The first CCM examinations will take place in London 15-16 October 2008 and Toro’s support will enable us to roll out the programme and examinations across Europe.”
There are approximately 10,000 clubs with professional managers in Europe, half of which are golf clubs, the remainder being sports, leisure, health and fitness clubs, plus city and dining clubs. The CCM qualification is open to suitably experienced managers who apply to attend a two-day review and examination that focuses on ten key club management disciplines, including financial, leadership, facility, and food and beverage management.
“Developing educational opportunities across the sports and leisure industry is important for future growth and development,” said Andy Brown, corporate accounts manager of Toro. “The CMAE is showing leadership and the vision to elevate the professional qualifications of club managers and Toro is proud to support the Association by becoming a Premier Corporate Partner.”
