EWGA and WIGI Create Formal Alliance

8.10am 7th February 2008 - People

Women in the Golf Industry (WIGI) has affiliated with Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) in a formal alliance to further strengthen the growth and impact of women in golf. Under the agreement, EWGA and WIGI will promote the common business interests of women golfers and those who work in the sport of golf.

The EWGA will provide WIGI with administrative support and WIGI members will also become members of the EWGA. Further, WIGI members will enjoy an expanded industry-based women’s organization and, together, support growth of the game activities.

“As the premier force for promoting women’s golf, the EWGA welcomes this alliance that reinforces the importance of women supporting women – for both those who work in the golf industry and those who play the game,” says Trish Davis, chief operating officer of the EWGA. As part of the agreement, Davis will serve on the WIGI board of directors.

Based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida., WIGI was founded in December 2001 to provide a networking group for women who work in the golf business. Members come from all aspects of the industry including tournament management organizations, equipment companies, golf management companies, golf organizations, web designers, employment services, apparel, shoes, gloves, custom equipment, teaching and the media. “This new relationship will open up a variety of opportunities to WIGI members, now and in to the future,” says Kathy Bissell, president and co-founder of WIGI. “We recognize and applaud the wonderful job EWGA has done and continues to do for its nearly 20,000 members and look forward to this alliance strengthening both groups.”

Since its founding in 1991, the EWGA has assisted more than 85,000 women by providing opportunities to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life. The not-for-profit association has nearly 20,000 members at over 120 local chapters throughout the United States and international chapters in Canada and France.

EWGA chapters provide a wide range of golf, social and networking activities for both new and experienced golfers. A welcoming environment, golf education and player development, and organized play programs are all part of the many benefits of EWGA membership.

The EWGA is headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. For more information about the association and its membership, visit www.ewga.com
