Scotland’s fastest growing Golfpass

9.08am 24th January 2008 - Travel

Sales of the First in Fife Golfpass grew 70% in 2007 and are set to grow again in 2008 with the introduction of online tee bookings. This will allow golfers to buy their Golfpass online at www.firstinfifegolf.com and then immediately arrange their visit by booking tee times online at their choice of courses.

There are 12 courses to choose from – Aberdour, Balbirnie Park, Burntisland, Canmore, Charleton, Dunfermline, Forrester Park, Kinross Montgomery and Bruce courses, Kirkcaldy, Pitreavie, and Thornton. Together they offer a great selection of seaside and parkland courses, of widely varying length and character.

The Golfpass offers 3 rounds from only £59 or – even better value – 5 rounds from only £92, and they can be used any time from 1 April to 31 October 2008, on either one trip to Fife or several.

In addition, there are now 14 hotel partners all keen to offer great value golf breaks based on the Golfpass. Aberdour Hotel alone sold almost 100 golfpasses in 2007, and proprietor Scott Wilkinson is looking forward to another successful season. He said, “We have already sold almost as many passes for 2008 as we did over the whole of 2007, with a good mix of repeat and new business – a great start to the year.”

Ewen Watt of Burntisland Golf House Club, who chairs the group, said, “The Golfpass has come a long way since we launched it in 2004, but we are still determined to offer a great Scottish welcome and great Scottish value to our growing number of first-time and repeat customers.

“We know this is a very competitive market, and we are determined to keep ahead of the competition by installing our new online booking system for 2008. We are very grateful to the Fife Tourism Alliance for their help with this, and to Scottish Enterprise Fife for assisting with our mystery shopper inspections and reports, which will ensure that our customer service exceeds expectations”.

Jago Brown, managing director of Tee Genius, the Scottish company which is installing the online booking system for the group, commented, “First in Fife’s online booking system will show how technology can help golf clubs improve their operations, customer service and revenue, by allowing golfers to search for and book tee times at so many courses all at the touch of a button. TeeGenius is delighted to be involved in such an innovative project.”

A number of the clubs in the First in Fife Golfpass group are also installing their own BRS online tee management systems which, according to Brian Smith of BRSGolf.com, will allow them to accept bookings in real-time from the First in Fife Golfpass website.

In addition, the BRS Tee Time Manager will reduce the time spent on phone calls and administration, a well as building a marketing database, and providing detailed management reports.

Full details of the courses, hotel partners, inclusive packages, and how to buy the pass can be found on www.firstinfifegolf.com or by phoning the Kirkcaldy Tourist Information Centre on 01592 267775.
