STRI recently took part as one of the sponsors for the 2007 European Golf Course Owners Association Golf Business Conference in Amsterdam. During this annual event the EGCOA retained STRI as an official business partner.

The signing ceremony took place on the second day of the conference with STRI’s chief executive, Gordon McKillop and Marcel Welling from the EGCOA.

Currently 10% of STRI’s consultancy and research services are provided to clients in continental Europe, Gordon McKillop is keen to see STRI increase their share of the market. The EGCOA represents more than 600 golf course owners in 17 European countries.

McKillop explained, “We are delighted now to be working with the EGCOA and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with its members.

“We believe they will find our services invaluable as the relationship will enable them to not only improve the quality of their surfaces, but also reduce costs, to help with head greenkeeper recruitment and to improve machinery use and facility management”

Lodewijk Klootwjk, a director of the EGCOA, said, “It is important for us to be able to work alongside an organisation which can deliver added value in services to golf course owners in Europe.

“The STRI is in constant communication with its clients ensuring a quick response and practical solutions to any problems which arise. And it is that expertise we, as golf course owners and operators, value so highly.”
