Dunfermline Building Society is to put Scottish golfers on the green with a new ‘Fairway Saver’ account that offers a great rate of interest and also helps out young golfers. Both adult and junior versions of the account, which pays up to 4.00% interest (variable, per annum) pay a percentage to junior golf clubs across Scotland as part of a partnership with the Scottish Golf Union.
The new account was given a warm reception at the final of the Dunfermline Building Society Junior Masters held at Gleneagles. The Society is half way through a two year sponsorship package with the conclusion of this year’s competition, which saw 2,500 youngsters from 200 golf clubs compete for the Masters prize.
For every pound saved in the Fairway Saver accounts, junior golf in Scotland will benefit. Money raised from the partnership will be invested in the clubgolf programme, as well as the SGU’s junior academies across Scotland, ensuring the future of Scottish golf will be in great hands with more youngsters having access to the game. More than 25,000 children in Scotland have been introduced to golf this year through clubgolf, the country’s national junior golf strategy.
Graeme Dalziel, chief executive at Dunfermline Building Society, said, “We are proud to be able to announce our continued support for young golfers in Scotland with the Fairway Saver account.
“Following on from the tremendous success of the Junior Masters competition and the amazing talent on display, we wanted to find a way to help develop the skills of these young sportsmen and women and this account means that they can be winners on and off the course.”
Hamish Grey, chief executive of the Scottish Golf Union, said, “This is a fantastic initiative from Dunfermline Building Society. Our partnership is truly valued and they are a great supporter of junior golf. The sponsorship of the Junior Masters, as well as our new Junior Club of the Year Awards combined with this new savings account, is vital in helping us achieve our goal of growing the game and developing talent in Scotland.”
The new account follows in the footsteps of the highly successful SoccerSavers scheme which has seen participating clubs and fans across Scotland benefit from net busting interest rates and investment into individual teams.
