One of the world’s most influential golf journals, Golf Magazine in America, which has six million readers per month, has featured The National Golf Centre’s Hotchkin Course in its influential Top 100 Courses of the World rankings.

The judging, now in its 15th edition, is one of the most anticipated in the sport and its latest rankings, released every two years, placed the Woodhall Spa,Lincolnshiregolf course at number 59.

Richard Latham, Director of Operations at The National Golf Centre said: “In my mind the Golf Magazine rankings are hugely influential and a recognised barometer of golf course excellence across the world.

“We are very proud of our facilities here at Woodhall Spa, and the fact that the Hotchkin Course consistently features in all of the most influential rankings lists around the world. The course is sited in rare and naturally beautiful heathland and its strategic design and dramatic bunkering make it a truly thrilling and memorable golf experience.”

Golf Magazine’s 2011 results were compiled from a ballot of 100 carefully selected panellists based in 17 countries around the world. They include LPGA ‘Hall of Famers’, tour and travel operators, golf course photographers and architects, British and US Amateur winners and even a woman who has played every Top 100 course in the world.

What makes The Hotchkin Course appealing to the public is that it is so accessible for golfers wishing to experience a world-class golf course. And from November 1st, EGU (English Golf Union) and EWGA (English Women’s Golf Association) members can play 18-holes for just £49, while juniors will pay £20.

While the Hotchkin Course may be more than a century old, The National Golf Centre, which also features the popular Bracken Course, remains at the cutting edge of golf and has recently opened The National Golf Centre Academy to the public, overseen by Head Coach Neil Harvey.

Its state-of-the-art facilities, offering coaching for all, are widely regarded as the finest in Europe and are used by some of England’s best young players (World number-one Luke Donald honed his skills here as an amateur).
