Back on dry land!

12.25am 26th July 2007 - Exhibitions & Conferences

With many golf courses having experienced a washout in June and July, the Golf Consultants Association will focus part of its 2nd ‘Profit from Golf’ roadshow on ways to recoup revenue. And with only fifty places available, delegates are urged to book early.

Keynote speakers will demonstrate the latest marketing techniques and other initiatives designed to bring golfers back to golf courses following the wettest summer in British history.

The event, sponsored by Ransomes Jacobsen, will culminate in a 2007 Year Review where, in an extended Q&A session, delegates will share feedback on the golf season and share thoughts on increasing business in 2008.

Other key sessions will look at how to attract funding and investment; how indoor golf simulators are revolutionising golf practice venues; and how to run F&B profitably.

This GCA roadshow, seen as a key networking event in the industry, will take place at Playgolf Northwick Park, Harrow, Middlesex, on the morning of Wednesday, 19th September.

The cost is just £35, with a limit of 50 delegates. Lunch is included. Those interested should contact the GCA on 02476 414999 ext 207, or email gca@sportsandplay.com

The GCA is a non-profit making organisation and acts as a central point of contact for a rigorously selected group of golf industry specialists sharing a common goal of delivering appropriate solutions to client needs.

Ian Bulleid, GCA chairman, said, “It has been a terrible summer for many golf businesses and finding ways to recoup revenue lost to the ‘monsoons’ of June and July could be critical if they are to survive.

“The agenda for the second ‘Profit from Golf’ roadshow has been deliberately constructed to enable golf course owners and managers to go back to their businesses armed with ways to boost the usage of their facilities.

“Following the success of our ‘Business Of Golf’ Conferences in 2005 and 2006, we decided to take the concept ‘on the road’ in 2007 to make its key message – that help is available to enable golf operators to make more profit from golf – as accessible as possible. Our first roadshow in May was a total success and we look forward to another lively event in September.”

At each event, Golf Consultants Association members are at hand to offer their experience and expertise from a range of services – including marketing, online tee time booking, club house design, financing, golf development and operations.

Ransomes Jacobsen, the premier supplier of high quality turf equipment and vehicles, is sponsoring the GCA roadshow networking events. The first event was held at Greetham Valley GC in Rutland in May 2007.
