Solheim Cup Tickets on Course for Sell Out

12.10am 13th June 2007 - Travel

The Ladies European Tour has announced that 82% of tickets for The 2007 Solheim Cup have already been reserved with less than three months remaining until the competition. The capacity will be limited to just 30,000 spectators per match day.

The unprecedented demand demonstrates the immense popularity of women’s golf and for the format of the event. Played over three days with a mixture of four-ball, foursomes and singles matches, this will be the tenth edition of The Solheim Cup with the USA Team currently leading the event by six matches to three.

Sponsored by PING golf equipment, The Solheim Cup is named in honour of the company’s founder, Karsten Solheim, and his family.

The event will be played from 14th – 16th September at Halmstad Golfklubb, where Europe will be looking to win back the trophy in a similar style to that of 2003. That year, the event was held at Barsebà¤ck G&CC with sell out crowds of 100,000 witnessing an emphatic European victory.

Sweden’s Helen Alfredsson, The 2007 European Solheim Cup Captain, said, “It’s great to be playing on home soil and we want as many spectators to come and support Europe as possible. It’s going to be a fantastic week and we really appreciate the support that we’ll get from a home crowd.”

The organisers are encouraging the public to make sure they purchase tickets and parking tickets well in advance to avoid any disappointment. To book tickets log on to: www.solheimcup.se or call +46 (0) 771 44 44 10.
