This week KPMG’s Budapest-based Travel, Leisure and Tourism (TLT) practice will commence collecting data for its second annual Golf Benchmark Survey (www.golfbenchmark.com).
More than 6,000 questionnaires are being sent out to provide structured and comparable information regarding the operational and financial performance of golf courses, across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMA) region.
The Survey, which was initiated in 2006, is designed to support golf course owners, operators and developers in their future decisions.
KPMG’s TLT practice has begun distribution of the 2007 questionnaire, targeting every golf course in the EMA region (more than 6,000 courses), with requests for information on:
- Basic course information
- Membership information
- Green fee and cart/buggy rental information
- Round information
- Financial information.
The data received will be treated highly confidentially. The information published will be of a general nature and will not address the specific circumstances of any individual golf course.
KMPG would like to encourage all golf course owners and operators in EMA to participate in the 2007 Golf Benchmark Survey. All respondents will receive a hardcopy of the final Summary Report, and one of the survey participants will be awarded a one-week holiday for two in a luxurious property within the Aphrodite Hills Golf & Spa Resort in Cyprus.
In 2006, KPMG’s TLT practice collected more than 800 questionnaires from golf courses in 27 countries in the EMA region. The results were issued through seven Regional Reports and one Comparative Report for the whole EMA region. The seven geographical areas surveyed included Northern Europe, Great Britain and Ireland, Western Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. All GBS reports from 2006 are downloadable free of charge from the www.golfbenchmark.com website.
The 2006 findings of KPMG’s Golf Benchmark Survey have been announced at various golf conferences, including the European Golf Course Owners Association (EGCOA) Conference in Amsterdam, the Dubai Golf Expo, the Finnish Golf Course Owner Association Conference in Helsinki, the South African Golf Summit and the German Golf Course Owners Association (BVGA) Spring Conference in Berlin.
