“On Thursday 15th February the ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) released the latest circulation figures for the golf magazine market,” said Greg Dunbar, Group Advertisement Manager at IPC Media, “and we‘re delighted to say that Golf Monthly is the ONLY mainstream title to show year on year growth.
“With a total ABC figure of 76,735, Golf Monthly’s circulation is now more than double that of its competitor “Golf World” who posted a circulation of 36,885, down 13.6% year on year and their fifth consecutive ABC drop.
“At the same time “Golf Monthly” has closed the gap on “Today’s Golfer” who posted a 12.1% drop to 88,242. The gap has reduced from 30,434 to only 11,507 copies in just 6 months.”
“We‘re not normally this bullish about our performance – we prefer to focus on the business at hand,” concluded Greg, “but this really does represent a huge shift in our market share so we‘re naturally keen to get the message out.”
Golf Monthly’s editor Mike Harris says, “Naturally everyone on the team is delighted with these results and I feel they are testament to the immense hard work that goes into every issue. As a magazine that is put together ‘by golfers, for golfers‘ I feel we have a unique insight into what fuels the passion of our readers that helps us to deliver the excellent mix of content golfers really want.
“Since the audit period we‘ve continued to see strong results at news stand and with major editorial and design changes about to debut in the April issue we are ready to capitalise on this success and continue to grow our market share through 2007.”
Golf Monthly continues to be the UK’s best read golf magazine with a current NRS readership figure of 548,000 per month, 27% ahead of the nearest competitor.
